Help for Rana Plaza collapse victims : Sewing Machine Donation Program among seriously wounded garments worker of Rana Plaza (Savar) The Rana Plaza complex collapsed on 24th April, 2013 that killed more than 1,000 people and injured another 2,500. By now it is considered the deadliest garment-factory accident in history. The Bangladesh Garment industry is responsible for 75% of the country’s export earnings. In order to continue attracting global retailers to the country, Bangladeshi manufacturers find themselves under great pressure to keep both production and labour costs low. This situation reflects on the situation of the workers who play a key role in the equation. A lot has changed in the past few weeks and the measures taken so far by both Western retailers and the Bangladeshi Government are a step in the right direction. By the grace of Almighty Allah we had an opportunity to raise emergency fund to stand beside the seriously wounded garments workers and have donated sewing machines and money among their selected relatives during our 38th day long free Sufi Meditation Course.
