Zakat is a pillar of five pillars of Islam
In Al Quran, description about Alms (charity) is mentioned 30 times in 30 verses. We are presenting 4 verses among them. Allah Say’s: And be steadfast in prayer and regular in charity: and whatever good you do for your souls before you, you shall find it with Allah as Allah sees well all that you do (Ref: Al Quran 2:110). There is no goodness that you turn your faces towards East or West; but it is right to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity, to fulfil the contracts which you have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the God-fearing (Ref: Al Quran 2:177). Those who believe, and do good deeds and establish regular prayers and regular charity, will have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve (Ref: Al Quran 2:277). Zakah expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy and for those employed to collect [zakah] and for bringing hearts together [Spiritual Saint] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the [stranded] traveler – an obligation [imposed] by Allah . And Allah is Knowing and Wise (Ref: Al Quran 9:60).

যাকাত ইসলামের পাঁচটি স্তম্ভের একটি স্তম্ভ।
পবিত্র আল্ ক্বোরআনুল হাকীমে ৩০ টি আয়াতে ৩০ বার যাকাত এর বর্ণনা রয়েছে। আমরা এখানে চারটি আয়াত উপস্থাপন করলাম। আল্লাহ তা’আলা বলেন: তোমরা সালাত কায়েম এবং যাকাত দাও। তোমরা নিজেদের জন্য উত্তম কাজের যা কিছু পূর্বে প্রেরণ করবে, তা আল্লাহর কাছে পাবে। তোমরা যা কর নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ্ তার সম্যক দ্রষ্টা (সূত্রঃ আল্-ক্বোরআন ০২:১১০)। কোন পূণ্য নেই পূর্ব এবং পশ্চিম দিকে তোমাদের মুখ ফেরানোতে; কিন্তু পূণ্য আছে কেউ ঈমান আনলে আল্লাহর উপর, আখেরাতের উপর, ফেরেশতাগণের উপর, সকল কিতাবের উপর, আর সকল নবী-রাসূলের উপর এবং অর্থ দান করলে, আল্লাহরপ্রেমে আত্মীয়-স্বজন, এতিম, মিসকীন, মুসাফির, সাহায্যপ্রার্থী এবং দাস মুক্তির জন্য; সালাত কায়েম করলে,যাকাত দিলে, কৃত প্রতিশ্রুতি পূর্ণ করলে আর অভাবে, রোগে-শোকে ও যুদ্ধ-বিভ্রাটে ধৈর্যধারণ করলে। এরাই হল প্রকৃত সত্যপরায়ণ, আর এরাই মোত্তাকী (সূত্রঃ আল্-ক্বোরআন ০২:১৭৭)। নিশ্চয় যারা ঈমান এনেছে, নেক কাজ করেছে, সালাত কায়েম করেছে এবং যাকাত দিয়েছে, তাদের জন্য রয়েছে তাদের পুরস্কার তাদের পালনকর্তার কাছে। তাদের নেই কোন ভয় এবং তারা দুঃখিতও হবে না (সূত্রঃ আল্-ক্বোরআন ০২:২৭৭)। সদকা (যাকাত) তো শুধু তাদের হক যারা গরীব, মিসকীন, যারা সদকা (যাকাত) আদায়ের কাজে নিযুক্ত,যাদের চিত্ত আকর্ষন প্রয়োজন ( ধর্মের প্রতি আকৃষ্ট করার জন্য কোন অমুসলিমকে যাকাত প্রদান করা), এবং দাস মুক্তির জন্য, ঋণগ্রস্থদের জন্য, আল্লাহর পথে অভিযাত্রী (দ্বীনী ইলম অর্জন ও দ্বীনী সাধনার যাবতীয় পথ) এবং মুসাফিরদের (সফরে গিয়ে যার পাথেয় শেষ হয়ে গেছে সে ব্যক্তিকে যাকাতের অর্থ প্রদান করে বাড়ী পর্যন্ত পৌঁছানোর ব্যবস্থা করতে যাকাতের অর্থ দান করা যাবে। এক্ষেত্রে উক্ত মুসাফির সম্পদশালী হলেও তাকে যাকাত প্রদান করা যাবে) জন্য- এটা আল্লাহর নির্ধারিত বিধান। আল্লাহ্ সর্বজ্ঞ, হেকমতওয়ালা (সূত্রঃ আল্-ক্বোরআন ০৯:৬০)।
